what a hideous monstrosity that main tower is... looks like a Howard Johnsons out of the 1970's.

look at all these things crammed in here. exact same formula every time. no different shapes, no different rooflines, no different materials. architecture reduced to window treatments.

this building is decent on its own but in context there are just too many sterile "all glass" buildings grouped together at Front and Simcoe.

omg... Toronto doesnt hold a candle to the skyline of Chicago no matter what "the stats" about numbers of buildings say. Chicago has far more taller buildings and vastly superior and more diverse architecture.

what a train wreck of a design... especially the base that has several different aesthetics mashed together, none of which is attractive on its own, but even worse glued together in such a forced way. once again i weep for the death of architecture. humanity passed its prime at least 50 years ago.

wow, this is really interesting and eye catching! this is what the city needs more of - full height masonry buildings ( even if they end up being prefab sections) to contrast the last 20 years of nothing but glass which has left so many parts of the downtown feeling sterile and lifeless...

the glass being used here appears to be much darker than depicted in the renderings... which is good. it will create more of a contrast with the CIBC tower across the street. the bronze tones in the renders looked too similar to my eyes.

my sense is that refers to simple (square or rectangular projection) balconies and how far they stick out from the edges of the building. examples like shown above where the majority of the open space is still inside the footprint of the building shouldnt be affected. it would be an...

why cant we design and execute buildings this interesting at 4 or 5 times this height?

the skyline has been pushing out in that direction quite a lot in the last 5 -10 years and is indeed quite busy now. p.s. - this building is terribly bleak.

maybe if you are referring only to North America. otherwise, you really need to get out of your bubble. have a look at the big South American cities for example. they have this density as far as the eye can see, whereas Toronto is only a small rectangle in the downtown core.

the suspense is killing me on this one... one of a handful of towers I am actually excited by and they are taking forever just to get started. hopefully the finished product is not a let down.
