Old Backlit Subway Map @ York Mills Station

I haven't noticed this until last week, but the old YUS subway route maps at both ends of the platform at York Mills station were lit up. Certainly brings back some nostalgia from a time when the Spadina subway went only as far as Wilson and the Sheppard Subway only existed on paper.

    Merry Christmas from Transit City!

My Sketchup renderings of how Sheppard Avenue East and Birchmount Road in Scarborough might look like if the Sheppard East LRT is built. I was thinking that since all the crude Transit City renderings out there only depict the line during the summer, maybe it's time to look at Transit City...

Hong Kong's MTR to raise fares despite huge profits

While Toronto's transit system is mired in funding problems, Hong Kong's subway operator MTR is swimming in cash after posting a profit of HK$9.64 billion ($1.275 billion Canadian) in 2009, HK$2.12 billion ($280 million Canadian) alone through transit operations. Best GTA Locations for Engagement Photo Shoots?

I'm planning to do a photo shoot with an engaged couple that I know, once the weather gets warmer and spring is in full swing. I'm going to be especially picky about what locations I want to take photos at. I'm good at architectural photography and I know which buildings and what neighbourhoods...

    Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit

Guangzhou, China has opened up a Bus Rapid Transit line as part of the city's preparations for hosting this year's Asian Games. It's been criticized as slow, but the line looks pretty neat with BRT stations featuring platform gates, built in a 'canyon' of tall buildings. Is Viva taking note...

ChumCity Building lights up for Haiti

299 Queen Street West (ex-ChumCity Building) certainly looks magnificent this week with blue and red lighting, which I assume was set up in remembrance of the recent earthquake in Haiti (the CN Tower was lit up in a similar manner). Too bad it wasn't done for a more happier occasion.

    The Burj in Toronto?

A little fun exercise to celebrate the opening of the Burj Dubai/Khalifa (or to mourn the CN Tower's loss of the title of "world's tallest 'building'").
