It’s a major diversion off the mainline that will require a very long tunnel if it were through running with trains passing through at speed.
What will be needed is a rebuilt UP Express station that can handle six-car MU trains.
The TTC will open the bus terminal at Mount Dennis to passengers starting November 16, coincident with the Mount Dennis GO/UPX station opening.
Cedarvale Station will partially open on that date too.

When the Gravenhurst station was last used, there was a coffee shop inside, and Ontario Northland buses stopped there as well. The coffee shop was also a ticket agency, but even then, the station passenger functions were secondary to the business.
It was just announced that the new Guelph central library will house the personal archives of beloved children’s author Robert Munsch.

I wrote more about UP Express’ changing role, and what needs to be done. If only we had clear plans and public transparency at Metrolinx and Queen’s Park.

Yeah, I linked to the transportation master plan. I’m just skeptical it will fully get built; even so connections to St. Clair Avenue and the streetcar in particular will be poor with the station layout.
There’s a chance it can be rethought if it no longer has to serve 12-car trains, but I’m...
I was at the station site on Sunday. It’s a great place to drop a body… or at least some industrial waste.
I know this station is supposed to support the nearby high rise development proposals, but access to the streetcar – or anything else right now – is bad...

Yeah. The QEW wasn't a fully grade-separated highway between Toronto and Niagara until the 1970s. Truck trailers weren't 53 feet long back then either.
I’d have to go take a look myself, but these bollards do seem to be much better than the concrete blocks. As for their close spacing, they seem to be similar to those placed around sensitive government buildings in the US like courthouses and federal offices. So not ideal from a pedestrian...

And you’re not wrong. The City – which is on the hook for the “SmartTrack” stations – is looking to make the St. Clair-Old Weston Road Station UPX only.
I remember much of the CN Weston Sub being bolted rail when it was a single track corridor prior to GO Transit’s acquisition and reconstruction. But it’s been a long time now since I’ve heard that clickity clack.
