    TTC: Easier Access Phase III

Now it's going to confuse tourists and suburbanites? :) Good job it's not near any major museums and tourist areas!

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I thought it was still working as well - but when I opened an incognito window, it didn't work. What was happening is my browser was caching it. Looking at https://www.metrolinx.com/en/about-us/document-centre the only link that still works is the agenda! -...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

We've seen many examples though that suggest that Metrolinx's legal department sets new highs in incompetency. While they may not succeed - they may well try! :)

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a last minute press conference tomorrow (Friday), given that Metrolinx leaked the date. Though, various media outlets reported that the date was December 7 last month.

    Toronto Bloor–Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Metrolinx has removed the document from their website. But there is a copy available at https://www.scribd.com/document/952343388/Item-9-Rapid-Transit-Capital-Projects-Progress-FINAL-ENG-Mx Oh dear, another maintenance stop? We should start a pool on how many months/years this one lasts. 🤣

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

A transit line can be heavy rail but carry no passengers. It's about capacity, not actual ridership. Sheppard runs 4-car trains, each with a capacity of about 750, every 6 minutes. That's 10 trains an hour, for a peak capacity of 7,500 people per hour per direction (pphpd). Probably higher, as...

Fear not - there's also a copy at https://www.scribd.com/document/952343388/Item-9-Rapid-Transit-Capital-Projects-Progress-FINAL-ENG-Mx @atakagi1 I thought it was still working for me too - but then I opened it in an incognito window, and it didn't work. So it was just my browser caching stuff.

    But ... but .... but ... where's the big white on black T? 🤣

subway ≠ heavy rail. The Waterloo & City line in London isn't heavy rail. Trains are only 64-metre long, with narrow cars than Line 5. Would you say that an underground line isn't a subway? Glasgow subway trains are only 40-metres long, and even narrower! Weight has nothing to do with...

    Montréal Transit Developments

There're no slow zones northbound between Bloor and Finch - which is where I've noticed issues in the last few years; and a single one southbound at Eglinton/Davisville. Digging into the details, the southbound one is only about 150 metres long, with a 7 km/hr reduction in speed - which I'm...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I much prefer lying a single-aisle jet - quicker to load. Especially the ones with 2x2 seating instead of 3x3 seating - always seems quick on the 2x2; lots of overhead space and no middle seats! I'm thinking of the Airbus A220 (the former Bombardier C series) and the Embraer jets (E195) that...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

After most of those pathetically low numbers that don't come anywhere close to meeting the specified criteria, I suspect these are mostly lines that are no longer in the plan! :)

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I've never thought of the The Junction as extending as far south as Bloor. Wikipedia says the southern boundary is around Annette. I don't hear Junction Triangle used much, but it's defined as east of the tracks. Which puts Dundas West station outside of Junction Triangle. And I don't...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Looking at the January 2020 Schedule, the 7:33 am from Oshawa skipped 5 stations, and arrived at Union at 8:23 am - 50 minutes. Now the 7:33 am from Oshawa is scheduled to arrive at 8:37 am. That's 64 minutes and 14 minutes slower. Though there was also a 7 pm non-stop service from Oshawa to...

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

They also reported on Summerhill to Havelock and Seaton to the east. And they were each about half the western portion. For midtown, the (AM) peak points are going to be eastbound and westbound at Union. So you wouldn't see higher numbers measuring somewhere else. Now I assume that's the peak...

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

For those who don't want to find our thread on the Big Move, here's the 15-year plan dated November 2008 (i.e 2023).

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

It does seem to be the most significant. The ridership for some of those is pathetic. And it's clear that Midtown will never happen as a GO service with ridership like that. Hourly GO Rail service to Cobourg does surprisingly well - and probably relatively cheap. I wonder if they'd stick to...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

And yet the longest is only 10 characters long! Which surely influence the selection of the station name.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I assume it will be more synchronous electronically. Though I'd think Metrolinx is wrong, given that TTC only put up the "soon" signage for Cedarvale and TMU stations starting around the 16th! Obviously the decision isn't Metrolinx's to make.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You can't do everything overnight. They haven't done their official changeover yet - I assume that will be opening day for Line 5. You see the same in other cities. I was in Seattle a month before the Lynwood extension of the Link - and it was a mix of old and new signage. Announcements, etc.
