I think the goal is to have it become the Yorkdale of the western GTA. So I would imagine more focus on high-end fashion retailers...but who would choose to locate there in the current state of the mall? It's odd that they've tried the whole fashion-focus since the first reno, and it's never...

The EMTC reno/expansion will be huge. On par with Yorkdale's.

Exciting is a good theme for the renovation...I find EMTC such a boring place to be. The horrible layout doesn't help, to be sure, but the stores, design, etc. are just so...bland....

They distributed those to all the area residents as well - nice to see some proactive thinking. Hopefully it will help.

I saw that too. It was hard to see if the EA included the full 403/410/401 interchange, but I would be surprised if it didn't.

Interesting - that's not where I expected it to go (there's another huge parcel of land on the north side), but that's a large site, assuming they bought the land behind the strip mall back to the tracks. That land has been undergoing remediation for the last 2 years.

You were correct - they took down 1/2 of the north side. So that means at least 3 more nights of similar closures to come...

I think taking down an entire bridge span over one night is pretty darn impressive. I would be surprised if the intention was ever to demo the entire structure, including the sides. They will need to close a few lanes whenever they decide to take those sides down, though.

Both the eastbound and westbound exit lanes are now using the new stretch of highway. I was surprised to see the westbound exit using the new transfer tunnel this week. It's going to look quite different with that old bridge out of the way.

I finally saw the screens testing last night and they looked great. They really make this huge area feel more enclosed.

In the e-mail announcing the closure, R&W did say that they would reopen in a new location later this year.
