2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Apparently since council cheaped out of giving the TTC substantial cash to progress the work on the line, the TTC has only done enough work up to now that would need to be done whether it was an LRT or subway. Byford was merely being honest by saying that. If the work on Kennedy had progressed...

So no disputing the veracity of the video, then?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The series of screen grabs have been posted to knock the legs out from any defence that the shots have been Photo shopped before they even start. One shot? Maybe. A series of them? Not a chance.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Can't you see that the car, aware of the mortal threat to it and other vehicles' existence posed by the LRT, suddenly decided to make the ultimate sacrifice in an attempt to slow down the Crosstown line? ;) ... In fact, it was a carmakazi attack. *boom tish* I'm here all week.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Oh dear. http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/04/29/john-tory-campaign-team-takes-a-shot-at-humour-with-twister-chow-waits-for-laughter-to-begin/ As to the second point on the flyer, the Tory campaign is absolutely wrong. A Stintz campaign staffer thought it was funny to say that Chow...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The problem is that this expansion is sporadic, dependent on the whim of one or more levels of government. Thirty years of steady, relatively undramatic maintenance and expansion would work ten times the wonders of 'big bang' projects.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

You clearly haven't met the Scarborough wing of the Ontario Liberal Party. In a choice between LRT on Sheppard or nothing, they'll choose nothing. Every single time. *edit.* Yes, it is a cool time. Didn't mean to sound like a grouch.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

It's now April 30. Who was the candidate? There are 6 names currently registered (as of 11:14, April 30, 2014), none of them with the last name Ford.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Thomson couldn't spell out why she's a footnote in this race more clearly.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This article basically confirms what I (and probably some others) suspected: a big hold-up to tunneling was the construction of headwalls, especially at Caledonia. Let's hope the headwalls at Dufferin are constructed sooner rather than later. Dennis will be there sooner than you think...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

If CKK is the Ford pick to run against Perks, I think even Korwin-Kuzynski is under no illusions of the scale of the challenge. Perks is damn near unshiftable. The Ford plan seems to be run someone in every ward regardless of their chances. At best, they win. At worst, they put a stone in the...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Oh, absolutely he's being used. I think Vaughan knows it, too, but figures he's done as much as he can/wants to do as councillor, and hopes that while he may be a cog in the machine, he'll be a squeaky cog.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Shouldn't this talk about Vaughan be hived off on to a new thread, since he is now pretty clearly *not* running for council?

TTC: New Articulated Buses (In Delivery, Novabus)

Artics are now running on 53E Steeles East route, although it does not seem to be a 'big bang', but rather interspersing them with the older models. I will not be sorry to see the back of the Orion Vs. Yes, they come with lifts, but when it comes to strollers, it comes down to the whim of the...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The new streetcars all come in the same size as the one in the photo, AFAIK.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

The sign war part of the campaign always shows when an emperor (or pauper) has no clothes.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Not yet. The Chow campaign has already "lost" one staffer to the by-election – Joe Cressy. However, the timing indicates that everyone on the campaign knew that Cressy was going to be leaving, and so his departure was managed smoothly. I think Hollett has her eye more on facing off against...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

A good social media campaign only works if the product being sold (the candidate) is someone that people can actually connect with. While such a campaign can work for a while without the candidate being prominently featured, eventually people need to get to know the person on the ticket...
