2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Soknacki's campaign has been assiduous in its tactics, in no small part to the very smart person behind it, Soknacki himself. He has gone the route of being in large(r) part a social media campaign, with catchy PDFs and tweets that end up being shared or retweeted, giving the campaign free...

Toronto Union Subway Station: Second Platform and Concourse Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC | IBI Group

Visited today. Very impressed with the execution, but at least one minor detail slipped through the cracks.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I have a bad feeling Stintz will attempt to boot discussion of this until 2015. Hopefully she will fail.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

McNicoll has to be the first priority for increasing bus service. Increase storage and maintenance facilities, and lots of other things become possible.

"There's only room for one drunk in this government and unfortunately for you, that position's already taken" - Sir John A. MacDonald to Thomas D'Arcy McGee (allegedly)

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

I think if Tory got Perks's endorsement a lot of people would fall off their chairs.

If we're discussing post-election options, a web show might be a better option: Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdjzDLtiCRc Or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZExt3lxE8_M&list=TLt2vCih__bEQ1y-6ANVf-i2iBRRl73XVz&index=7

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Ford is forgetting that replacing 15 councillors is very, very, very unlikely even if he were enjoying stratospheric levels of popularity, which he isn't. Ward races are essentially local and all about name recognition, and if people remember your name in the voting booth, and don't really...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Can council override the committee's rejection if enough votes can be rounded up?

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

May 8, 2014: Delay the Finch and Sheppard LRTs. May 27, 2014: No change to the Finch and Sheppard LRTs. Full speed ahead. Truly, Tory is a master of consistency. Shades of Romney.

I suspect they might have realized that picture might not endear them to their current and potential clientele. Questions of judgement, and so forth.

I'm confused. What if your job is building the subway? Do you have a job? How do you get to it? Help!

The tunnel tracker hasn't been updated in almost three weeks now. Hmmmm.

"Tory says his plan would not affect the planned Finch-Sheppard light rail lines." http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/mayoral-candidate-john-tory-unveils-transit-plan-1.2655356 Although this is from May, so who knows what he thinks this week.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

There are a fair number of conservative Liberals out there. Anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, never too many cops on the streets, the whole nine yards. Jimmy K is but one example of them. I met more than a few when I was knocking on doors in YSW. I would guess many of them would choose Ford in a...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

If the doors are going to be thrown open to 'alternative' candidates, then I'm going to guess it's going to be from a pre-selected 'respectable' pool of candidates (Ari Goldkind, Morgan Baskin, etc.). No-one, for example, is going to invite Sketchy the Clown, for example, for fear of it turning...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Given Ford's wandering attention when it comes to transit (before this week he'd more or less ignored Eglinton in favour of stumping for Sheppard or Finch to have subways), I'm not taking this at all seriously. His attention will wander back to Sheppard, and then on October 28, to nowhere at all.

I wouldn't rule out him chaining himself to a bulldozer. I really wouldn't.
