    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Europe is pretty authoritarian in general with individual rights. We're closer to the US so we're going to lean more towards individual freedoms

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

You really think those land parcels (the spots) becoming useless would not bring a court case? Look at the metrolinx case where a mechanics shop is heavily polluted and they wanted to expropriate it for $0.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Australians have much less freedoms than Canada, same with the UK. I can't speak for Spain though. Bloor is one of only a few streets that passes through all of downtown and extends past the core

Jmi22 mentioned "yep, and even if vehicle traffic was banned all together to make King a truly pedestrian/transit space"

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

If you make the areas pedestrian only the people who own spots in garages would lose a ton of value from their parking spots becoming useless and effectively not being able to own a car (not everyone stays in the ttc boundaries) You'd have to give them fair market value if you close the street...

They don't have the same sorts of property rights we do. Where would the city come up with $150k or more per parking spot?

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Several arrests were made when the police were acting as extra security in the stations, the fare inspectors take down your name and info and the police were able to compare that to outstanding arrest warrants.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Those all sound like non issues, If I’m illegally parked then I could get caught the entire time. I’ve stayed 10 minutes passed in a spot and was immediately ticketed, fare enforcement is basically hoping that anyone who doesn’t pay did it on a streetcar and is heading union or Spadina. It’s...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I get some work (the upcoming Ontario line 2 year closure) couldn't be done since it's due to new projects. But I remember lakeshore past humber loop was closed only for track repairs, they couldn't do the Kipling loop construction then? Tons of cases like that. You have a great point about...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I saw the news today that the 501 queen is going to be closed for almost another two years, I remember mentioning a few weeks ago that It’s been down for seven years out of a decade now it’s going to be down for close to an entire decade from enormous stretches! People are worried about...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It gets worse, they were found in a condo stairwell and slashed a cop with a machete

    Toronto | Crosstown Line 5 West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Not sure what's the process of building a headwall? Like I would assume you excavate the location but then how does the TBH keep going the right path when it arrives? Or do I have it totally wrong.

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

I'm kind of sad when I go abroad and see in person Canada is one of the least creative countries overall

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Fair but the whole QEW niagara drives the same as the people on the 401 around Toronto

    Metrolinx: Finch West LRT

Saw a full wrap today and thought of the convo earlier, no advertising revenue and it's a fairly short lived one (Celebrations are ~2 weeks for this?)
