Fascinating historical note about John Tinsley. I wonder about the dates of his birth and death, however. 1782-1892? It’s not impossible but a lifespan of 110 would definitely be highly unusual. I wonder if they meant 1792-1882. That would be lengthy span in the 19th century in itself. That...

Swimming in Lake Ontario on a balmy 2 degrees C day. The swimmer is not wearing a wet suit or other special gear, just an ordinary swimsuit. And it wasn’t just an in and out plunge, but an actual swim. I was wearing a parka at the time. Photo credit, Mme67Cup.

It’s not the seventh day of Christmas and there are more than seven swans a swimming in the photo, but, well, here they are. These swans are Trumpeters, which are a species native to North America, unlike the orange billed Mute Swan. There are more Trumpeters this year than in past seasons...

For once, Eau du Soleil may be a fitting name,

A light effect in the mist, on Key West in Humber Bay Shores.

The mist rises. Well, maybe it doesn’t actually rise, but ”rise” sounds more poetic than “Dissipate.”

Highrises from Mimico Creek. The towers may be high but the water level is very low, as can be seen here

Goose Ramp in Humber Bay. Canada Geese are not exactly uncommon but, well, here you go anyways…

Crane Day at the marinas in West Humber Park. The marinas rent huge mobile cranes to hoist yachts out for winter storage. A touch of sadness at the end of the season.

An Autumn walk in the park. The water level is as low as I have seen it since moving to Humber Bay. Some hard shell sunbathers. We also saw a mink, but, unfortunately, no photo.
