Yes, the railway bridge, and I forgot that it did route that way. I guess we'll never know if they considered running over the dam or not, but it was a bit odd that they left the Bailey Bridge for so long. You are probably right that they left it knowing that eventually 427 would push up there...

So I realized after looking closely at aerial photos of Indian Line at Claireville, that my assumptions about the bridges there were wrong. I had thought that the Indian Line bridge was washed out by Hurricane Hazel in October 1954 and replaced by the Bailey Bridge that I was so familiar with...

I'm still looking for any photos of the Bailey Bridge over the Humber at Claireville. I can't find any photos and don't have any myself, although I used to drive over it regularly.

This week - the old tower is SOLID. It's going to take a while to bring her down! I am amazed by the fact that they somehow put a backhoe on the roof and are systematically destroying each floor UNDERNEATH the machine! I'm sure they know what they are doing, but that would freak me out. What if...

I'll find some of the old archived photos and post them. If there was any asbestos I probably breathed more in and got more in my eyes watching the demolition than I'll ever get off a piece of concrete - lol :)

Put together a quick 'Then & Now' image of 1965 construction of Constellation Hotel and yesterday (Oct 2011) demolition photo.

I stopped by the Constellation today to take some photos which you can view here. I managed to find a cool souvenir - a small fragment that must have bounced over the fence. The cool part is that it is a fragment of the outside painted wall of the old tower!

Passed by the Constellation this week and saw that all that was left was the elevator shaft of the new wing and most of the old tower - she is of course much tougher. A sad day for me. I looked over at it every single day on the way to work coming down the 427 for over 20 years. I attended one...

Finally this week, complete demolition is happening on the Constellation Hotel. Apparently a potential sale is in the works after another bankruptcy. The poor hotel has been rejected and tossed back and forth since 2003 and I was starting to compare it to the Bayview Ghost. This week all that...
