Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

They were able to pull the schedule ahead quite a bit by moving the station piling scope to WEC (the ATC1 contractor), where it was previously part of SRS, which is why it's happening now even though TRP just signed their contract for SRS. I would still be VERY skeptical of the timeline produced here. Keep in mind that TRP has just started work and what is one of the first things a contractor needs to produce on a project? (hint: a schedule) Also keep in mind how long the testing and commissioning phase has taken for ECLRT and even FWLRT.

hopefully they learned alot from the line 5 and 6 commissioning bullshit to be able to streamline the process much faster.

One would hope; however, consider the provided timeline has WEC finishing their works on the stations in 2028, which is when Trillium would then be able to start their construction works. They've gotta build the stations, run all the rail, electrical systems, etc across the entire line and then the dreaded testing and commissioning. At least this isn't a new line so there may be some time savings there, but an opening date 2 years after they start work is very unlikely. I would cautiously give an entire year to testing and comissioning and 2-3 years for construction.

Decided to head into Scarborough running errands today and drove the whole length of the line from west to east and back.

Must be something wrong in the tunnel because there was an eastbound train sitting on the Black creek Dr guideway and a westbound train sitting at Sunnybrook Park station.

Both trains were still there when I came back along eglinton 3 hrs later.

There were two different issues yesterday during the day - one was a mechanical issue with a train, and one was a smoke alarm that went off - a false positive. In between them and after, they ran a pretty intensive service.

By the time I went by at 8pm, things were running smoothly again.

Thanks for clearing up!

On a positive note, the stations look incredibly clean since I was last on eglinton in June. We must be close.

Except for Don Mills perhaps. They dumped a bunch of stuff in front of the bus bay a few weeks ago & don't seem to be in a rush to do anything with it. They also keep messing with the platform/sidewalk:

I thought it was closing for the next year or so to build the Ontario Line platforms.

I think it will be closed for the majority of the duration while OL is under construction for storage. Personally I don't think we'll be able to access the bus terminal till closer to 2030 unless they open it as a walkway. The temporary bus loop is built (similar to Warden Station) where all the buses will drop outside.

Access to the bus loop would be from Gervais Dr on the east side. I don't think the loop is big enough to accommodate all the routes. I wouldn't be surprised if the 25/925 will continue to drop off on street as it doesn't make sense to detour to the bus loop. Without dedicate direct access to Don Mills Rd, routes like 72 Pape will have to be stuck in traffic making the left back to Don Mills from Eglinton. I suppose the 54/954 Lawrence East and 191 Underhill will use Wynford from the north instead of Eglinton to get to the loop.

They had blocked off the west end & put in a dividing barrier for the Ontario Line side, so not sure why they are messing with what looked like finished bus bays on the LRT side now... and all the way to the easternmost end.
Passengers transferring from the LRT will have to come above ground here, but it doesn't look like they can use the just completed bus bays at all and will have to walk along Gervais either south to Eglinton, or north to Wynford and then west to Don Mills in order to catch any buses going north or south. ☹️
